Italian Leather Saddle Chair

A striking Italian lounge chair from the 1980s, featuring thick saddle leather in a rich oxblood-cognac tone over a sculptural chrome frame. Strongly influenced by the Bauhaus movement and the tubular steel furniture of Marcel Breuer, the chair has a beautifully pared-back construction that allows the materials to do the work.

The leather has developed a deep, natural patina with age, giving the chair plenty of character while retaining its clean architectural form. A particularly handsome example of late twentieth-century Italian modernist design.
